Every premium cigar begins with something remarkably small: a tobacco seed. Despite its tiny size—containing thousands of seeds in just a single gram—it carries the genetic heritage that determines the aroma, flavor, strength, and character of the cigar enjoyed months or even years later.
The tobacco used to produce premium cigars belongs primarily to the species Nicotiana tabacum, a plant native to the Americas. Long before European explorers arrived, Indigenous peoples cultivated tobacco throughout the Caribbean, Central America, and South America, selecting the strongest and most aromatic plants for future harvests. Over decades of careful breeding and selection, growers have developed many celebrated tobacco varieties, including Criollo, Corojo, Habano, Connecticut, and Sumatra. Each offers distinctive characteristics that cigar makers use to create unique blends and memorable smoking experiences.
By the time a premium cigar reaches a smoker’s hands, the journey has already spanned many months of cultivation, harvesting, fermentation, aging, and expert craftsmanship. Yet everything begins with a tiny seed—a symbol of generations of agricultural knowledge, dedication, and passion for producing the world’s finest tobacco.
